Mr Mike Murnane,

Chief Financial Officer,

Irish Greyhound Board,

Dock Road,

Dear Mr Murnane,

Can you please explain to greyhound owners the figure of 541,231 euro that has been spent on “Travel Promotion and Entertainment”?

It seems extraordinary for an organisation with no commercial interest outside of the 26 counties to be spending 10,408 euro on travel and entertainment every week.

It is an increase 27,359 from the spend of 513,872 in 2010. It is hard for greyhound owners to understand how travel and entertainment costs rose by 6% when everything else appears to be in free fall. I could understand if this was part of marketing but you already have 1.5 million, an increase of 10,000 over 2010, allocated for advertising.

We were delighted to finally get to see the accounts of 2011 although the content did confirm the suspicions that the IGB is indeed in a very precarious financial position. As I am sure you are well aware, most companies and semi-states have now published their 2012 accounts. When can we expect to see the 2012 accounts for IGB?

Yours Sincerely

Edward Gus Ryan
