Minister Tom Hayes announced to the Dail last Thursday 17/07/14

“This is an industry to which insufficient attention has been paid in the past and if it is looked after properly, it has real potential”

This must surely be the understatement of the year.

Has Minister Hayes or Coveney finally awoken from their slumber. The next question that needs to be asked and answered is, who is he referring to when he says that “insufficient attention has been paid in the past”?

Is he pointing a finger at the Coveney appointed Board?

Is he referring to the “skills gap” of the Board that was identified by Indecon?

Is he blaming Coveney or the Dept of Agriculture?

Maybe Minister Hayes is now starting to accept some of the blame himself.

Regardless of who is responsible for the huge debts, and this article only covers one account with AIB and does not factor in the 7 million pension deficit and other overdrafts, the greyhound community will pay.
