Mr Phil Meaney

Irish Greyhound  Board Green Park

Dock Road Limerick

Dear Mr. Meaney,

Our members are anxious to know when the advertisement for the position of C.E.O. of the IGB will be inserted in the National Press.

We are aware that the present C.E.O’s seven year contract ends in Jan 2014. We also understand that the position must be publicly advertised.

The greyhound industry employs in excess of 10,000 people and leaving the IGB without a CEO for any length of time might suggest  indifference to the industry from the Government .  In order  to attract the best possible candidates  it is vital that adequate notice be given of the upcoming vacancy in the IGB.  I assume that the IGB Board members who are the direct employers of any C E O. are also anxious to attract the best possible candidates.

I presume the Minister, Junior Minister and members of the Department of Agriculture would like to see the same.

The members await your reply. Yours sincerely

Edward Gus Ryan.
